GSA Network Helps Students Take a Stand Against Bullying, Support LGBT Youth in their Schools
Student-led Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs in schools can be a lifeline for young people dealing with bullying and a launching point for students to challenge discrimination and educate their communities to create safer schools. Research shows students with GSA clubs at their school feel safer and more supported.
The Gay-Straight Alliance Network has a ton of resources to help students create new GSA clubs and take existing clubs to the next level just in time for Spirit Day on October 19. If you are interested in starting a GSA at your school, check out the 10 Steps for Starting a GSA guide. If your school has a current GSA club and you want to learn new ways to make it even better, try the GSA Network’s How to Have a Kick-Ass GSA outline. And if you want to make sure students and teachers know about your GSA, going purple for Spirit Day is a great way to raise visibility!
