A new University of New Hampshire study shows adolescents who have been recently victimized have more thoughts of harming or killing themselves.
The Crimes Against Children Research Center released its findings Monday that show a link between increased suicidal thoughts and recent victimizations including sexual assault and maltreatment.
The study used a national sample of 1,186 youths aged 10-17 included in a survey on children’s exposure to violence. The authors said 4.3 percent reported having suicidal thoughts.
