Trigger warning: rape
The majority of the country has recoiled from the statement made by U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock of Indiana, saying pregnancy resulting from rape is something that God intended. Yet the religious right seems to be validating his position: Christianity Today asserts, “… it may be even more ‘disrespectful to the survivors of rape’ to fail to tell them about the wondrous redeeming power of God, even in the most horrible circumstances.”
Ugh.
